We recently had the pleasure of attending #OTExchange2024 in Perth as official sponsors. Throughout the two-day conference, we connected with more than 800 delegates, engaging with Occupational Therapists, exploring current evidence-based practices and clinical research, and delving into future advancements in the field.

The conference featured diverse topics, including knowledge translation, paediatrics, older persons, disability, and emerging and innovative practices, offering a complete view of the profession.

Renowned speakers, including Dr. Tina Champagne, Senator Jordon Steele-John, and Judith Hewitson inspired attendees.

Here are our top takeaways from the event:

  • Supporting and Advancing the Occupational Therapy Profession: Occupational Therapy Australia is committed to supporting occupational therapists by developing capability frameworks and advocating for the profession. Their efforts ensure that the exceptional knowledge and vital contributions of Occupational Therapists are recognised and respected, allowing these professionals to continue making a significant impact on many people's lives every day.
  • AI in OT: Occupational Therapy Australia acknowledges the growing use of AI and its benefits for practice. They emphasise the importance of using AI ethically and ensuring that tools are secure and meet privacy standards. OTA highlights the advantages of adopting AI, such as increasing access to resources and improving operational efficiency. Several valuable features for practice were discussed, including utilising AI for activity analysis, generating progress notes, and enhancing reporting capabilities.

Engaging with the experts facilitated a rich exchange of ideas and best practices, broadening our understanding of innovative approaches to therapy and intervention.

Thank you to everyone who attended the event and came to say 'Hello!' It was a pleasure meeting you, and we look forward to continuing these important conversations in the future and seeing you in Adelaide for the 31st National Conference and Exhibition in 2025!
