What is splose AI? A plain-language guide for Healthcare practitioners

When you have your hands full with a caseload, the last thing you want to spend time on is learning how to wrangle a new tool. That’s why we built splose AI as an extension of the workflow you’re already living in.

We’ve curated five tools that step in, at just the right time, to make your life easier with specific tasks before, during and after your consultations. Each of these tools live in your progress notes, so you don’t have another app to manage or hop between endless tabs.

In this blog, we’ll give you a basic primer of what each tool does and how it makes your clinical life easier.

Where does splose AI live?

splose AI is a panel inside your client's progress notes. This means it’s ready to be useful as soon as you open the most common document you deal with everyday. Here’s the simplest way to find it:

Open any client → go to Progress Notes → You'll see an AI panel on the right hand side

The five things splose AI can do

Once you're in the AI panel, you’ll have access to five features. You can set up the ones you find most valuable first and make your way to the rest once you get more familiar.

1. Transcribe & dictate: skip the blank page after every session

How it works: All you have to do is hit record at the start of a session (or after it). splose AI transcribes what was said and produces a structured progress note from it. All that’s left is for you to review, edit, and finalise the progress note. We also have 95% reliability, so you don’t have to repeat yourself and spend less time editing later.

How it helps: For starters, transcribe and dictate ensures that when the session is done, the progress note is already drafted. No more slow starts with a blank page. If your practice runs back-to-back appointments, it's the difference between staying late and leaving on time.

2. Ask AI: automate patient summaries for faster sessions

How it works: Think of Ask AI like a professional concierge that has access to your patients’ history from prior progress notes. All you have to do is use the chat interface to tell it what you need at the moment. This could be as simple as saying “write a SOAP note for today's session” or could be a more complex request like “ pull together a summary of the last 4 sessions”.

How it helps: Ask AI already knows the patient's diagnosis, their recent progress, and what you were working on last session. This saves you valuable minutes per session (which add up to hours over a week) going back into a patient’s history at the start of each new session.

This is the prompt that tends to work well across most disciplines:

"I'm a [physiotherapist / OT / speech pathologist]. This is a [initial / follow-up] session for a patient with [condition]. Refer to the last 3 progress notes and write a [SOAP / DAP / narrative] note."

The more context you give the AI , the more detailed the output you can expect.  But even a rough prompt produces a useful starting point for you to edit from, rather than writing from scratch.

3. Emails & letters by AI: make clinical comms less time consuming

How it works: Our AI emails & letters feature can draft a range of clinical communication in the background. It knows the patient's history, diagnosis, current treatment goals, and what the referral is for.

How it helps: Referral letters, GP correspondence, and support letters are tasks you can’t shy away from in a practice. But you also don’t want to use valuable clinical hours getting them done. It produces a draft in seconds which you can review before sending. This gives you time back in your day to focus on client care.

Here’s an example prompt that tends to work well across most disciplines:

"Draft a GP referral letter for [patient name]. Include current diagnosis, treatment summary from the last 4 sessions, and reason for referral. Keep it under one page."

The draft you get will need you to edit it. But editing a draft takes only a few minutes, whereas writing correspondence afresh, across multiple patients, could last hours.

4. File upload: save time summarising complex reports

How it works: If a client arrives with a specialist report, an NDIS plan, or a letter from their GP, you can upload it directly into the AI panel and ask it to summarise the document.

How it helps: splose AI goes beyond pulling up a bullet point summary. It can identify key clinical findings, pull out the goals, or flag anything relevant to your next session. This gives you a nuanced clinical picture in seconds; a task that would otherwise take up at least 20 minutes, per report.

Here’s an example prompt that tends to work well across most disciplines:

"I've uploaded an NDIS plan for a new client. Summarise the stated support goals and flag any requirements relevant to occupational therapy."

splose AI supports the upload of Word documents, PDFs, and images. You can summarise up to 3 documents per interaction. Each document can be up to 200MB each.

5. AI blocks: ensure consistent notes across your team

How it works: AI Blocks are structured sections you embed in your progress note templates. All  you have to do is define the format once and AI will fill in the relevant block every time a note is created. Our model is constantly being fine-tuned through feedback from practitioners like you for speed, accuracy and reduction of repeated content across blocks.

How it helps: For solo practitioners, it means notes follow the same structure session to session. For multi-practitioner clinics, it means every practitioner's notes follow the same format irrespective of who led the session. Most importantly, AI blocks can save hours in report writing and building out assessments.

splose AI will always be supplementary to clinical judgement

Everything splose AI produces is a draft. You still need to review, edit, and finalise it before any of it becomes part of the clinical record. That workflow is intentional and foundational to how we think about AI tools. Your professional, clinical opinion will always matter first.

Getting started is quick and easy

Take a read of our support article, splose AI doesn't take long to set up. The first useful thing you can do is open a progress note, type a prompt into Ask AI, and see what comes back. That takes about 90 seconds and can be incorporated into your next appointment.
